Data Binance Research recently shared shows Inscriptions volume on the Bitcoin network has exploded to over 60 million.
According to details of the report, BRC-20s are at the center of this massive growth. Having hit the initial milestone of 1 million in April 2023 amid the BRC-20 boom, Inscription volumes surpassed 50 million by December 2023. The explosive surge for these “Bitcoin NFTs” has now pushed volumes past the 60 million milestone.
The past year has seen inscriptions and BRC-20 projects push key Bitcoin metrics higher. These include block demand, mempool growth and transaction fees, with BTC mempool transaction count having raced to its all-time highs in 2023.
But more than metrics, Inscriptions and BRC-20 are redefining the Bitcoin ecosystem. The developer community is seeing new ideas quickly take shape as the “creation, minting, and transfer of fungible tokens on the Bitcoin blockchain,” becomes a reality.
