Everyone has that idea in their head of their dream house.
Whether it be one you’ve seen or just that one you picture in your head. It has all the right sized rooms, bathrooms, two living rooms, a huge kitchen, and acres of land for your kids and the dog to run around. More often than not, that dream house is just out of reach.
Money, or life, just gets in the way sometimes. You could spend your whole life dreaming of this house without actually doing anything to go and get it. This article is going to try to spur you on to chase your dreams. More often than not, they’re not actually that far out of reach. You just need to put in some hard work and make it a dream come true.
Renovate yours
Renovating is so much fun. It’s transforming the house you already know and love into the one that you’ve always dreamed of. If you can’t afford to just up and move, this is definitely the next best thing. Big renovations obviously take a lot of time, and if you have kids you don’t want to be disrupting things too much.
Decide what you’d like to do first and work on it. It might be that extra bedroom or bathroom, or it could be that huge kitchen you’ve always dreamed of. Whatever it is, make it happen. Save up the pennies you need and ring around reliable contractors. The last thing you need is someone dodgy doing the job for you.
We’ve all heard of those absolute nightmares where people have spent thousands on a renovation, only for the job to be done so poorly it needs to be redone. As we said, if you have kids you want to keep the disruption to a minimum, so make sure you pick the right person the first time.
Start your savings
Gathering the money for a big move is sometimes impossible.
Especially when you have a family to provide for, or if the house is a little expensive to run. You also need to have a firm idea of what you want and how much it is going to cost. Buying a condo can often be the best option, as there are just so many options. Bigger houses might not be too bad to buy, but the bills might cripple you.
That’s the one thing some people don’t seem to consider when they’re buying a house, it’s the cost of the actual bills that come with it.
So, if you’re going to try to start saving for this big move, you’re going to need to look at ways that you can dramatically cut back your spending, or perhaps take on a weekend job if this interests you. Any extra money you can gather that you’ll be able to put towards fees, maybe some new furniture, or to cover a higher mortgage if that’s what the house is going to offer. Sometimes you have to compromise on the things that you really want in life. If the house is one of them, the spending has got to be dramatically reduced.
Wait for the right time
The housing market fluctuates so much, it’s often hard to keep up with what is happening. One day the housing prices are down, the next they’re booming and everything just seems out of your price range.
You need to master the art of monitoring the housing marketing trends and realising when the highs and lows are going to come. At the same time, however, you need to be careful that the house of your dreams isn’t going to get snatched up because you waited too long. It’s a dangerous game buying a house, but in the end, it is definitely worth it.
Make the move
After what feels like all the stress and worry is over, the real stress begins. If you’ve already completed a move before, you’ll know exactly how stressful it can get. No matter how hard you try, things just seem to go wrong. Things go missing, things don’t come in time, companies let you down etc.
Find someone reliable who’s going to get the job done swiftly and easily for you. You’ll already have a million and one other things to sort, especially if your move isn’t exactly just around the corner. There are a few main things you’re going to need to do to make the move go smoothly. Firstly, don’t take absolutely everything with you. You’re going to have hoarded quite a bit in your old home, everyone does it.
Whether it be old kids toys, old clothes etc. It doesn’t need to come with you, so you might as well have a sale to try and make some money. Then you need to think about setting up all the new bills in your home. The main thing you need to sort is gas and electric and water. After a terrible move, nothing will be worse than no heating or running water, especially at this time of year,
Make it perfect
Once you’ve finally got that dream home you’ve always wanted, it’s time to make it perfect. Decorate it the way you want to, but if you’re stuck for ideas, the Hygge way of life seems to be so popular as of late. Their interior design is so simple, yet so beautiful. Filling it with simple wooden accessories and plain yet bold colours is all you need to do.
They look so cosy when they’re finished. Or you could go high tech and fill it with automotive systems, the biggest TV, the best surround sound system. Some people prefer to keep their house as modern as possible.
If there’s some renovation that needs doing, you’re best off waiting a few months, or even a year, until you’re settled to actually enjoy the house you’ve always wanted. Get your family and friends round and celebrate finally getting the home of your dreams.
