This Earth Week, April 19-25, ocean advocacy nonprofit PangeaSeed Foundation, in collaboration with the first Tezos-based NFT marketplace Kalamint, will be making waves with Protect What You Love, the first NFT/crypto art collection of its kind, highlighting the fragility of the world’s ocean and the vulnerable species and habitats that call it home.

Curated by PangeaSeed Foundation, the collection will feature NFT artworks created by 28 globally renowned artists, including Von Wong, Anna McNaught, Taj Francis, Jon Burgerman, Claire Droppert, and Ted Chin.

Participating artists will visualize through their unique creative lens how marine environmental issues, such as biodiversity loss, warming seas, coastal development, overfishing, plastic pollution, and ocean acidification, are impacting the ocean and what’s at stake.

The Protect What You Love”collection will be released April 19 and remain available only through April 25 via kalamint.io. Proceeds from these unique editions’ sales will directly support PangeaSeed Foundation’s efforts at the intersection of culture and environmentalism, powering their science, education, and ARTivism (S.E.A) programs worldwide.

As NFTs have gained more mainstream popularity over the past several months, concerns about the carbon impact of the Ethereum blockchain have also been raised.

The Tezos blockchain uses a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus protocol to verify transactions, requiring an estimated 25 million times less energy than Bitcoin or 1.5 million times less than Ethereum per transaction.1
