Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) NFT sales surged after Eminem revealed that he had bought a BAYC NFT for $452,000, Bitcoin.com reported. On January 2, metrics showed BAYC’s weekly trading volume of $78.26 million gained 151%. MAYC’s seven-day trading volume of $93 million registered more modest gains of ‘just’ 93%.

More than 6K addresses hold at least one BAYC NFT

The two NFT projects have seen perpetually rising demand. BAYC consists of 10,000 unique apes. As of today’s date, 6,067 unique addresses hold at least one ape. Bitcoin.com reports that one Ethereum address holds just over 100 BAYC NFTs. The number of people trading BAYC NFTs has also increased – by just over 101%. BAYC sales have risen by 123%.

Market valuation at $2.73B

At present, BAYC’s overall market valuation sits at $2.73 billion. One BAYC NFT costs $287,740 on average. The floor price is around $273,420 in ether.

MAYC commands top volume this week

BAYC’s sister project MAYC achieved the top trading volume this week. Today, MAYC volume is around $93 million with 2,234 traders. One MAYC NFT costs $54,270 on average. The floor price is around $59,180 in ether.

Mutant Apes capture $707M in lifetime volume

MAYC is a collection of 20,000 mutant apes. You must tether a BAYC to mutant serum to create one or mint one during the public sale. MAYC reward BAYC holders with a mutant version they can trade on the open market. So far, there have been around 7,623 mutations.

Just under 22,000 MAYC NFTs have been sold since the project was launched, equivalent to all-time trading volume of $707 million in ether. 11,148 unique Ethereum wallets held at least one MAYC at the time of writing.

BAYC #3562 sold for $1.64M

​​BAYC #3562 sold for the equivalent of $1.64 million in ether five days ago, making it the most expensive BAYC sale in the last week. Eminem’s purchase was the 30th most expensive BAYC sale this week.

MAYC #2209 sold for $102K

Yesterday, MAYC #2209 sold for the amount of 26.69 ether, equivalent to $102,000. Also yesterday, MAYC #4627 sold for the comparable 26.26 ether. Today, Bored Ape Chemistry Club, Bored Ape Kennel Club, and Prime Ape Planet PAP registered the highest NFT collection volume, so it’s not just BAYC and MAYC sales on the rise, the report concludes.
