The intersection of artificial intelligence and blockchain technology has birthed numerous innovative projects, but three AI cryptocurrencies have recently captured the crypto community’s attention through their interesting performances.

As AI continues to dominate blockchain discussions, Phala Network (PHA), Marlin (POND), and Virtuals Protocol (VIRTUAL) have emerged as standout performers, each carving its niche in this rapidly evolving landscape.

Let’s dive into what makes these AI crypto projects tick, their recent market movements, and why they’ve become the talk of the cryptocurrency town.

Phala Network soars 50% after Bitget listing, monthly gains hit 190%

Phala Network (PHA) surged over 50% following its listing on the Bitget exchange just yesterday. At press time, the token was trading at $0.455 with a monthly increase of 190%. The protocol is a blockchain co-processor that enables trustless computing for smart contracts.

Phala’s gamified ecosystem, Phala World, tracks user participation through soul-bound NFTs in a post-AI war setting. The platform allows users to provide computing services and earn PHA tokens while developers can integrate applications using pre-built templates.

Recent developments have particularly favored Phala Network, with Bitget announcing its listing in their Innovation, AI, and DePIN Zone on December 28.

In addition, the exchange is offering a 7-day promotion with zero transaction fees for PHA purchases using credit or debit cards. This listing has contributed to a substantial increase in trading volume, reaching $850.61 million.

Marlin Protocol: A layer-0 solution for blockchain network efficiency

Marlin Protocol’s token is also one of the best AI cryptocurrencies to buy as 2025 nears. At the time of writing, Marlin (POND) traded at $0.029, seeing a remarkable 24-hour increase of 42.9% and a weekly gain of 67.29%. Marlin protocol tackles a fundamental blockchain challenge by accelerating network communication and enhancing data delivery speed.

This approach sets it apart from competitors, as it enhances blockchain performance without compromising security or decentralization.

Marlin’s distinctive feature is its layer-0 protocol that improves blockchain scalability through efficient peer-to-peer networking. Furthermore, the platform uses POND tokens for network fees and governance, with a maximum supply of 10 billion tokens.

Another key point to note is that the protocol utilizes advanced routing techniques and a network of relay nodes to improve communication between nodes significantly. As a result, users can enjoy faster, cheaper, and more reliable blockchain transactions.

Virtuals Protocol: AI agents meet blockchain

Virtuals Protocol (VIRTUAL) currently trades at $3.14, going up by nearly 210% within the space of a month. The protocol specializes in AI agent creation and management, allowing users to co-own and monetize autonomous AI agents.

Among other AI cryptocurrencies, its standout feature is the Agent Prompting Interface, which enables seamless integration of AI capabilities into various applications. Each AI agent operates with its own ERC-6551 wallet, facilitating automatic revenue distribution among co-owners.

Over a fortnight ago, Virtuals Protocol unveiled the Agent Sandbox, an innovative simulation environment where developers can fine-tune autonomous agents. This playground allows creators to craft highly customized AI agents while defining their personalities, objectives, and specialized functions.

In summary, all three tokens represent different aspects of AI integration in blockchain technology – Phala focuses on computational power, Marlin focuses on network optimization, and Virtuals focuses on AI agent management.

Looking at the recent price performances of these AI cryptocurrencies (and others that may have not been mentioned in this article), it is clear that there is a growing market interest in AI-focused blockchain solutions.
