Bitcoin Pepe (BPEP), a meme-centric layer 2 project built on Bitcoin’s blockchain, has surged to prominence in early 2025. It raised $2.5 million within its first week of presale.

The project’s blend of Bitcoin’s security and meme coin virality has attracted over 25,000 investors, positioning it as a strong contender in the competitive crypto market. Here’s why it is attracting attention.

Presale Momentum and Investor Incentives

Bitcoin Pepe’s presale, structured across 30 stages with a 5% price increase per phase, capitalized on investor enthusiasm.

As of February 24, 2025, BPEP tokens were priced at $0.0255. This price is set to move to $0.0268 in the next stage. The pricing offers early participants potential gains of up to 300% if later stages sell out.

The fixed supply of 2.1 billion BPEP tokens is similar to Bitcoin’s scarcity model. It will allocate 50% to presale buyers, 15% to staking rewards, and 10% to liquidity pools.

Meanwhile, the tiered approach contrasts with inflationary meme coins, which lack capped issuance. Staking burns unsold tokens, which aims to stabilize prices post-launch.

Bridging Bitcoin and Meme Culture

BPEP runs on a Bitcoin layer 2 network designed for speed. It uses Proof-of-Stake (PoS) to process transactions faster than Bitcoin’s base layer to match Solana’s 65,000 transactions per second.

By introducing the PEP-20 token standard, BPEP facilitates meme coin creation and enables decentralized exchange functionality directly on Bitcoin’s blockchain.

The project will tap into Bitcoin’s $2 trillion market cap, which remains largely untapped for decentralized applications. Developers plan to launch a meme-focused decentralized exchange (DEX) and NFT marketplace by Q2 2025.

Unlike Ethereum’s high gas fees, BPEP’s layer 2 aims for near-zero transaction costs while leveraging Bitcoin’s security.

What’s Next for Bitcoin Pepe

Bitcoin Pepe’s upcoming mainnet launch and centralized exchange listings in Q2 2025 will test its viability. ICO Bench forecasts a 2025 high of $0.02181, a 4% increase from presale.

For investors, BPEP represents a high-reward bet on Bitcoin’s evolution beyond store-of-value utility. Its success hinges on delivering promised infrastructure upgrades while maintaining community engagement, and only a few meme coins have achieved this balance.

Exchange listings on platforms like BitMart and KuCoin will happen in Q2 2025, potentially improving liquidity.
