Ripple is ready to strengthen its crypto roots in Europe after announcing a partnership with Unicâmbio, a Portuguese-based currency exchange provider.
According to Ripple, this would be its first-ever partnership or deal with Portugal and a step toward expanding its crypto services across Europe.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ripple stated that the partnership would help corporate customers move funds between Portugal and Brazil via Ripple payments.
Ripple in Portugal and Brazil
Portugal and Brazil possess a deep-rooted history of economic cooperation. To capitalize on this relationship, Unicâmbio embraced blockchain technology to ensure smooth transactions and payments between the two European nations.
According to sources, executive board member Adriana Jerónimo emphasized blockchain’s impact on financial processes and its ability to revolutionize payment processing, offering faster and more cost-effective solutions for customers.
Cassie Craddock, Ripple’s Managing Director for Europe, highlighted Portugal’s strategic significance as an ideal hub for Ripple’s operational growth. She claimed this partnership aligns with Ripple’s aim of improving international payment systems.
While this partnership marks Ripple’s first venture in Portugal, the blockchain giant has already established a presence in Brazil.
They collaborate with huge financial players like Travelex Bank and Mercado Bitcoin, Brazil’s largest cryptocurrency exchange.
