American government bonds have surged this week, with the 30-year touching 5% for the first time in over two years. At the same time, the biggest dividend ETFs, like the VIG, SCHD, and DVY, yield less than 5%. So, here are some of the best-yielding Ethereum rivals to add to your portfolio for a rich retirement.

US bond yields have surged

Solana (SOL)

Solana is one of the best Ethereum rivals to buy today. It has become one of the best-performing layer-1 networks in industries like DeFi, DEX, DePIN, and gaming. Its DEX networks, like Raydium and Orca, dominate the crypto industry, while its meme coins, like Bonk, Pudgy Penguins, and Dogwifhat, have gained market share.

Solana is a good Ethereum rival to buy because of its high staking yield of 7%, its growing market share in key industries in crypto, and the potential for a SOL ETF approval in 2025.

Avalanche (AVAX)

Avalanche is another good ETH rival to buy for a rich retirement. It is a layer 1 network similar to Solana with a staking yield of 7.70%. Its staking market cap is $7.36 billion, equivalent to 44% of its total valuation.

Avalanche is a good Ethereum rival to buy because it has the potential to become as successful as Solana. It already has hundreds of dApps in its ecosystem, and it recently received a $250 million investment to continue funding and growing its ecosystem.

Celestia (TIA)

Celestia is a unique blockchain project with a staking yield of 10.67% and a staking ratio of 65%. Unlike Avalanche and Solana, Celestia is not a layer-1 network. Instead, it is a data network that provides modular data to developers across multiple chains.

Its benefit to developers is that it scales with the number of users, making it cheaper than most data availability networks. While Celestia’s price has crashed after going public in 2023, there are rising odds that it will bounce back as more developers continue using it.

Cosmos (ATOM)

Cosmos has become less popular in the crypto community, with its social sentiment score falling in the past few months. However, it is one of the top Ethereum rivals to invest in, thanks to its high yield of 21% and its big ecosystem.

Cosmos is made up of the SDK, which is an interchain standard for building dApps. It also has the IBC protocol, which lets dApps communicate with each other. The other key parts of its ecosystem are the CosmWasm and CometBFT.

Cosmos powers notable projects like Celestia, dYdX, Osmosis, and THORchain. Therefore, there is a possibility that its ecosystem will continue growing over time.

Polkadot (DOT)

Polkadot is a top ETH rival in which to invest and generate substantial returns, thanks to its 11.8% yield. The main reason for investing in Polkadot is that it has solved one of its biggest challenges: attracting developers.

Its original plan was to have parachain developers go through an auction process. While some elements of these auctions remain, developers can now build easily without going through the process. Some of the top players in its ecosystem are Centrifuge, a leading player in the RWA tokenization industry, and NFL Rivals.

Other best Ethereum rivals to buy

There are many other high-yielding Ethereum rivals to invest in, such as Bittensor, Flow, The Graph, and Akash. All these tokens have a 10% and above yield.
