The total memecoin market cap just hit $10 billion, and along with it, Turbo just surpassed $GOAT to become the second-largest AI memecoin by market cap. This milestone leaves ai16z at an $851 million market cap, now on its path to taking the top spot.

How Turbo took second spot from Goatseus token

Turbo started as a $69 experimental project where its creator, Rhett Mankind, challenged the AI model GPT-4 to design a meme coin with a limited budget. This led to a cryptocurrency that focused on community engagement and decentralized governance.

The initial launch suffered a critical setback when a malicious bot acquired nearly all tokens shortly after deployment, threatening the project’s viability. However, the token was relaunched after significant positive feedback from its community from an X poll.

Besides featuring no transaction taxes and a crowdfunded launch raising $6,669, its tokenomics structure ensures fairness. It also reached a significant milestone of a market cap of approximately $200 million within a few weeks of relaunch and recorded trading volumes exceeding $267 million at its peak.

In mid-December 2024, Turbo’s market cap saw a significant rise to $800 million, driven by a recent 30% price rally after being listed on Coinbase.

Additionally, it is listed on over 37 other exchanges, including Binance, Kucoin, and Kraken, boosting its trading volumes. As a result of its success, it is ranked as the eighth most-traded meme coin worldwide.

Turbo’s price at the time of writing is 0.01137, having reached an all-time high of $0.0133 on December 9, 2024.

Price predictions for Turbo are expected to fluctuate for the remainder of 2024 as it seeks to solidify itself in the market. It could trade between $0.0050 and $0.0252 by the end of 2024, with an average price expected around $0.0125.

This will majorly be driven by the recent resurgence of Bitcoin, which is influencing the bullish cryptocurrency trend. If community engagement continues to grow, it could reach the higher end of this range.

In 2025, interest in the AI and memecoins could continue the momentum, projecting prices between $0.015 and $0.025, with an average target of around $0.085.

The long-term outlook from 2026-2030 expects Turbo to be in its maturation phase. In 2026, prices are projected to reach between $0.0340 and $0.0418, driven by blockchain adoption and increased token utility.

Finally, in 2030, it is expected to reach $0.0782 by July and peak at $0.0868 by December, driven by community engagement and expanding its use cases.

Turbo’s rise solidifies the importance of community engagement, innovation, and strategic positioning for a successful memecoin project. Further developments, like new exchange listings and partnerships, will be crucial to further its growth in an ever-evolving market landscape.
