Australian rapper Iggy Azalea, who is associated with the controversial Mother Iggy (MOTHER) memecoin, has announced plans to revive her telecommunications company, Unreal Mobile. In a recent tweet, she stated that the mobile company is already operational and is accepting $MOTHER memecoin and Solana (SOL) as payment options for purchasing subscription plans or phones.
The rapper’s crypto venture, Mother Iggy (MOTHER), attracted significant attention and recorded growth of 140% in its first few days of trading. The $MOTHER token peaked at just under $0.25 on June 6. It’s currently trading for $0.1614, down 16% in the last 24 hours, but still up 726% in one month. The token’s trading volume has been relatively flat over the past day.
Azalea also mentioned that the tech firm Sphere Labs would be responsible for supporting the payment infrastructure. Unreal Mobile will solely focus on providing phone services. Customers will have the option to choose from a variety of phones. Meanwhile, Azalea emphasized that this project is a side venture for her and not “the main vision for what will drive $MOTHER.”
Will $MOTHER take off? It looks like it
In an interview with Fortune Magazine, Azalea revealed she launched the $MOTHER token both accidentally and strategically. She learned a scammer was using her name on Telegram to launch a memecoin and launched her token soon after that.
The report states that meme coins resonate with the rapper because they align with her familiarity with memes and other viral content throughout her career. She recognizes the negative attitudes toward celebrity meme coins and emphasizes plans to create real-world use cases for the $MOTHER token. She also sees the potential in the Solana blockchain.
Beyond the $MOTHER integration with Unreal Mobile, Azalea plans to integrate the tokens as a crowdfunding and gifting platform. Her ultimate goal is to turn $MOTHER into a stablecoin.
Unreal Mobile phone plans
Unreal Mobile offers three plans: MINI, MIDI, and MAXI. MINI comes with 5GB/month + 1GB hotspot data and costs $15 per month. THE MIDI comes with 20GB/month + 5GB hotspot data and costs $25 per month. THE MAXI has a capacity of 30GB/month + 10GB hotspot data, and its price is $30 per month.
