Web 3.0 is widely regarded as a means to preserve personal liberty online. Also known as a decentralized internet based on true P2P interaction, it will make it possible for people to take control back from the current generation of internet giants. CoinFi reported that two main browsers are fighting for domination in the epoch of Web3: Opera and Brave.

Brave is the king of crypto browsers, but for how long?

Despite the challenges Brave has faced, it has been the undisputed champion among crypto browsers for quite some time. It has its own blockchain to power it, where BAT token serves as the basis for the whole ecosystem. Now, Solana and Opera entered into a partnership, so Opera might be giving Brave a run for its money.

According to an official blog by the Opera team:

Opera, the world’s first browser with Web3 support and a built-in crypto wallet, is joining forces with Solana Labs to integrate the blockchain and support Solana dApps in the first quarter of 2022.

After the integration, users of Opera Android will be able to enjoy easy access to Solana dApps. They will avail of rapid transactions and low fees within the ecosystem at the same time.

Opera’s interest in Solana is not surprising

Opera’s interest in Solana is anything but surprising. The browser has an inbuilt crypto wallet on mobile and desktop and has been providing Web3 support since 2018. This is completely in line with the mission announced. The goal is to eliminate issues associated with using crypto and Web3 so it becomes more appealing to a wider audience.

The partnership eliminates the first issue by making Web3 seamlessly accessible. Austin Federa, head of communication at Solana, commented:

This integration will give tens of millions of new users even more choices of how to connect to Solana, and work to keep the dream of the open web alive and well. The mobile web3 revolution has barely just begun, and Opera is helping lead the way.

Support for BTC, ETH, TRON, Celo

Opera’s wallet supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, TRON, and Celo. Solana is a logical choice as the fastest blockchain with the low transaction fee of $0.00025. It features a host of dApps, such as Orca, Serum, Audius, Raydium, and Metaplex.

Opera isn’t the only entity supporting Solana. So is Crowny, an app that gives shoppers rewards for various interactions with brands.
