Jordan Belfort buys CryptoPunk #6033 and other key events in the NFT space

The non-fungible token continues gathering steam despite the crypto space entering into a bear market. This bullish performance of the industry saw crypto cynic Jordan Belfort out himself as an NFT proponent. He disclosed this news through a tweet on October 25, noting that he does not plan to leave the space.

Reportedly, the 59-year-old famous for using dodgy tactics while working as a stockbroker on Wall Street purchased CryptoPunk #6033. The CryptoPunk depicts a male smoking a vaporizer pen (a feature available in only 3% of the CryptoPunk collection. Other distinctive traits in the NFT’s avatar include a durag and muttonchops.

According to data from OpenSea, Belfort purchased the NFT four days ago for 102.49 ETH worth approximately $410,000 at the time. Showing off his new NFT, Belfort updated his Twitter profile picture with the artwork’s avatar.

This news comes after Belfort disclosed that he is looking to drop an NFT collection, which features artwork inspired by The Wolf of Wall Street movie and his life, earlier this month.

Disney dabbles in the NFT space

Moving on, the Walt Disney Company is gearing up to make its debut in the NFT space with the launch of a collection of tokenized characters from popular movies it owns. Dubbed Golden Moments, the collection is set to drop on November 12, and collectors that purchase the tokenized characters will get three months of free service on the Disney+ streaming application.

Although the company has not revealed details on the characters, it has a lot of options, seeing as it owns Pixar, Marvel, and the Star Wars franchise. Disney teamed up with VeVe for the NFT drop.

The Economist’s NFT sale nets $422,000

178-year-old global news publication The Economist sold a tokenized magazine cover for 99 ETH (approximately $422,000) during an auction on October 25. The NFT featured the cover from the publication’s September 17 edition titled Down the rabbit hole. The magazine delved into the decentralized finance (DeFi) space.

The profits from the NFT sale went to The Economist Educational Foundation, an independent youth outreach charity that teaches young people how to analyze current affairs.

Adobe partners with NFT marketplaces to help users verify artwork authenticity

Software giant Adobe joined hands with SuperRare, KnownOrigin, OpenSea, and Rarible to help users of the NFT marketplaces verify the authenticity of digital artwork. Reportedly, these collaborations will let content creators add wallet addresses to the metadata of artworks they list on the marketplaces.

In turn, collectors can verify the authenticity NFTs by checking whether the address that created a specific piece corresponds with the one that minted it.

WWE partners with

World Wrestling Entertainment has also decided to broaden its exposure to the NFT space after inking a deal with Blockchain Creative Labs, FOX Entertainment’s new NFT subsidiary. The agreement will see the organizations release licensed NFT collectibles. The companies announced the multi-year deal on October 27, noting that it will see them create NFTs that represent memorable moments in WWE’s history.
