Our Happy Company, a John Legend co-founded tech firm, has raised $7.5 million in a seed funding round. A press release unveiled this news today, noting that Animoca Brands and Infinity Ventures Crypto co-led the funding round. Other participants included Cherubic Ventures, Circle Ventures, FBG Capital, Highstreet, HTC, Jump Trading, and North Island Ventures.
According to the news release, Our Happy Company seeks to continue developing its non-fungible token (NFT) platform, Our Song, which is available in iOS and Android versions. This includes launching new features that enable creators to add experiences that blend the physical and digital worlds into their NFT projects.
Commenting on achieving this milestone, Chris Lin, co-founder, and CEO of Our Happy Company, said,
We’re focused on democratizing NFTs for the masses. This round of financing validates our approach and the success we’ve had in such a short time.
He added Our Song has quickly amassed a massive community since its launch earlier this year. Lin further noted that creators are using the platform to engage with their fans in new and unique ways. He believes the new partners and investors will help supercharge the platform’s global growth.
Funding the growth of a revolutionary product
Explaining why Infinity Ventures Crypto decided to invest in Our Happy Company, Akio Tanaka, a partner at the prior, said,
Over the past two decades, Chris pioneered new ways to transform the entertainment business, from music streaming services to event ticketing platforms and micro-music labels.
According to him, the impact of Lin and his team on North Asia’s entertainment business industry will last forever. Tanaka added that Infinity Ventures Crypto believes Lin is well-poised to democratize NFT creation.
On the other hand, Animoca Brands supported Our Happy Company because Our Song simplifies NFT creation and ownership. Unlike other platforms, which involve complex and costly NFT creation processes, Our Song features an intuitive mobile interface. Additionally, creators that leverage Our Song can also attach content and privileges to each NFT seamlessly.
Yat Siu, Animoca Brands’ co-founder and Executive Chairman, said the company seeks to find and support firms building the open metaverse. He added that one of the vital requirements of an open metaverse is providing an equitable system for creators, something that Our Happy Company addresses.
