- The Sandbox will offer WoW Foundation $25 million as part of this collaboration.
- WoW Foundation seeks to pursue different goals, including building a university in The Sandbox.
Crypto metaverse game The Sandbox has partnered with the World of Women (WoW) NFT project. A report unveiled this news earlier today, noting that this collaboration seeks to push for female inclusivity in the NFT industry, the metaverse, and beyond. Specifically, The Sandbox will part with $25 over the next five years to fund the creation of the WoW foundation.
According to the report, the WoW Foundation will focus on creating educational and mentorship opportunities for women. The funds from The Sandbox will go towards helping the foundation achieve its goals, most of which are associated with the metaverse game. For instance, Wow Foundation plans to develop 3-D avatars of the 10,000 WoW NFTs, allowing the respective owners to use the avatars in the game.
Additionally, the entity seeks to build a museum and university in The Sandbox. Students that complete the course will get a diploma in the form of an NFT. On top of this, WoW Foundation aims to set up an academy incubator for artists and projects. This incubator will offer chosen participants funding, mentorship, and networking.
Detailing what led to this partnership, a World of Women representative said The Sandbox approached the project with an initiative that shares its values and ethos.
The representative added,
We are humbled and excited to work with such a great team who shares our strong beliefs about why it’s so important to invest in and lift female voices.
The Sandbox’s co-founder and COO, Sebastien Borget, said,
Through facilitating the education and funding of women’s projects we hope these programs help establish a generation of influential women builders in the space.
The most successful women-centric NFT project
This news comes as World of Women continues unlocking milestones in its journey to empower women. Despite launching in July last year, the NFT collection has recorded a secondary sales volume of almost $157 million to date. WoW has attracted renowned fans, including actress Eva Longoria and Reese Witherspoon, the co-founder of the media company Hello Sunshine.
Witherspoon’s interaction with the project led Hello Sunshine to team up with WoW in the past month in a deal that involves developing feature films and television series based on the WoW collection. This deal was the first of its kind in the NFT space.
The WoW project first caught The Sandbox’s eye in January this year after the game purchased an NFT in the collection for 200 Ether (ETH), worth approximately $765,000 at the time. The NFT in question is WoW #6025.
