South Korean automobile manufacturer Hyundai Motor Company has teamed up with Meta Kongz to enter the online community-based non-fungible token (NFT) market. The automaker unveiled this news through a press release on April 17, noting that this move makes it the first car manufacturer to enter the NFT space with its community.
According to the press release, the Hyundai NFT community will be spread across the Hyundai NFT official website, Discord, and Twitter. The community will offer users the Hyundai brand experience in the metaverse by sharing NFTs showcasing its mobility solutions.
Reportedly, the Twitter and Discord channels opened on April 15. However, the official NFT website is set to launch in May.
Through these three platforms, the company plans to continue managing the asset value of its NFTs. Additionally, Hyundai will use the platforms to set up an open 24/7 communication channel between it and community members. Moreover, the company will use the channels to offer real-time updates on the asset value of its NFTs.
Hyundai also dropped a short film introducing the Hyundai NFT universe concept dubbed Metamobility Universe. Metamobility Universe reflects the Metamobility concept that the company announced during the CES 2022 event earlier this year.
The film features the Meta Kongz gorilla character driving a classic PONY and a modernly reinterpreted heritage series PONY from Earth to the Moon. These illustrations visualize how mobility solutions can cut across time and space. At the end of the film, Hyundai teases a shooting star-shaped NFT, which it seeks to release in May.
NFTs to commemorate the film
The company plans to issue 30 limited edition Hyundai x Meta Kongz NFTs on April 20. These NFTs seek to mark the release of the film, which reveals the company’s partnership with Meta Kongz. Hyundai added that it plans to continue developing its NFT projects throughout the year to expand its NFT universe.
Profits from the sale of Hyundai NFTs will go to the project’s management and community members.
Commenting on this groundbreaking move, Hyundai Motor’s Global Chief Marketing Officer and Head of Customer Experience Division, Thomas Schemera said,
The Hyundai NFT Universe will extend the Hyundai brand experience, especially with MZ generation, in a completely new way, further reinforcing our commitment to innovation in both the real world and in the metaverse.
He added that Hyundai is excited to team up with Meta Kongz in introducing Metamobility through its proprietary NFTs.
