- MetaverseME powers a mobile device showing Baron Davis’s exclusive avatar
NBA All-Star Baron Davis will partner with Hedera-based digital celebrity collectibles exchange Zoop for the 2023 NBA All-Star Weekend in Salt Lake City, Bankless Times learned from a press release.
The exciting event, which is taking place February 17-19, will feature some of the most-liked celebrities in sports, music, and entertainment. Zoop will power direct engagement by giving NBA fans a way to communicate with the most popular card creators. By collecting individual cards and being part of creator communities, fans access exclusive experiences and content.
Linking the digital and the physical
Zoop brings together digital and physical worlds using AR and Hedera, backed by The HBAR Foundation. It invites creators and fans to come together in the space bridging web3 and the traditional online experience.
Davis becomes the first celebrity to join Zoop. The star player will be immortalized as a digital trading card, which fans can buy and sell. They will access it via Zoop online. His Business Inside the Game Summit event will feature talks, panels, and summits with the best-known names in sports, tech, business, etc.
RJ Phillips, Co-CEO of Zoop, commented:
Zoop was founded to help fans build real connections with their favorite athletes and creators. We are thrilled to partner with Baron to bring his engaged community to Zoop and participate in an event as beloved and well-attended as the NBA All-Star Weekend.
Immersive AR video and other extras
Zoop installed an immersive augmented reality video booth at The Leonardo Museum. The MetaverseME app, which is a partner of Zoop’s, powers a mobile device allowing attendees to view Baron Davis’s exclusive avatar. They can record a video with him and share it directly to their social networks or save it to a gallery to share later.
If they tag Zoop and post a photo with Davis, they will get a limited-edition, exclusive card featuring co-branded merchandise.
