  • Testers will use Roller, a CLI tool to simplify deployment of RollApps
  • Dymension’s testnet will attract interest from Cosmos and Ethereum

Modular blockchain network Dymension has announced the launch of its incentivized testnet. Scheduled to go live in the final week of August, the permission-less testnet will give users and builders a taste of what it’s like to interact and build the internet of rollups, Bankless Times learned from a press release.

The incentivized program will enable testers to utilize Roller, a CLI tool designed to simplify deployment of application-specific rollups known as RollApps. Developed in conjunction with data availability networks Celestia and Avail, the testnet will support the creation of RollApps using customizable VMs such as the EVM.

500+ RollApps deployed in devnet

The incentivized testnet was preceded by a devnet for early participants. It saw the deployment of more than 500 RollApps, each connected with IBC via the Dymension Hub. Dymension’s incentivized testnet is expected to attract particular interest from participants within Cosmos and Ethereum ecosystems. This is on account of its being the first network to form rollups with IBC as a bridge.

The safest, most reliable bridging protocol

Each RollApp is IBC connected to the Dymension Hub for fast and secure bridging. IBC is regarded as one of the safest and most reliable bridging protocols and Dymension is the first blockchain ecosystem to bring this capability to rollups.

Designated as a modular blockchain, a RollApp delegates the task of achieving consensus to the Dymension Hub. This enables ultra-fast blockchains with block times as short as 0.2 seconds and efficient bootstrapping while retaining the security of the underlying blockchain.

Dymension will support Ethereum and Cosmos

The rollups deployed on Dymension’s incentivized testnet will publish data to Celestia and Avail, while Ethereum and other Cosmos chains will be made available as options in the future. Dymension Hub will provide secure bridging and interoperability. This simplifies the process of deploying and interacting with rollups and will deliver cost-efficient dApps that can scale to support a high volume of users.

It will eliminate VM constraints

Traditionally, developers are constrained by the VM favored by the blockchain ecosystem they have selected. The creation of a modular series of blockchains will reduce the infrastructure costs associated with dApp deployment while further showcasing the versatility of rollups as a universal blockchain scaling solution.
